Scamper offers exclusive private charters tailored to your group’s needs. Whether you’re looking for a day of adventure at Whitehaven Beach, a guided National Park experience, or a snorkelling trip to explore the fringing coral reefs, we can customize the perfect itinerary for you.
About the Vessel
Scamper is purpose-built for transporting campers and their gear, but its versatile design makes it ideal for a range of uses.
- Barge Design & Loading Ramp – Allows for easy island shore access and small equipment loads.
- Passenger Capacity:
- 22 passengers without luggage
- 18 passengers with luggage
- Weight Capacity: 2.6 tonnes
- Cruising Speed: 20 knots, allowing for faster travel between locations.
- Seating: Bench-style seating around the sides and three rows at the stern, accommodating up to 22 passengers.
- Barge Loading Door: Can be lowered to water level, providing seamless access for beach loading, snorkeling and swimming.

Charter Inclusions
✔ Scamper vessel charter with skipper & deck host.
✔ Visit to Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet Lookout (tide dependent).
✔ Guided National Park walks & reef/island talks by our experienced host.
✔ Snorkeling at fringing coral reefs (time permitting), with:
- Snorkel instruction
- Use of snorkel mask, fins & pool noodles
- Stinger suit for protection
✔ Light lunch: Gourmet sandwiches & morning/afternoon tea platter.
✔ Drinking water & esky for cold drink storage (Soft drinks available at an additional cost).
Charter Payments & Cancellation Policy
- 50% deposit required at the time of booking.
- Balance due 5 days prior to departure.
- Payments accepted via credit card (1.6% surcharge applies) or bank deposit.
Cancellation Policy
- Up to 5 days before departure: Full refund minus a 5% non-refundable booking fee.
- Less than 5 days before departure: 100% cancellation fee applies.
- If we cancel due to weather, a full refund will be issued.
Additional Fees
- $200 Public Holiday Surcharge applies to charters booked on Queensland public holidays.
- $50 per person for Hamilton Island Airport pick-up & drop-off (includes island fees).

Specialized Transfer Charters – Equipment & Gear Transfers
For equipment or gear transfers, we offer flexible vessel hire to meet your specific transport needs.
Pricing & Hire Details
- Vessel Hire: $460 per hour
- Pricing is calculated from vessel loading to return to port (unloaded).
- If the vessel continues with other transfers after your booking, you will only be charged for the time from loading to drop-off.
Capacity & Load Limits
- Passengers & Gear: Scamper can carry up to 22 passengers with limited gear (backpack).
- Passengers and camp gear Scamper can carry up to 18 passengers with limited gear.
- Equipment/Gear Transfers: Maximum load capacity of 2.6 tonnes.
Important Requirements
✔ Passengers must assist with loading and unloading of transported gear.
✔ An equipment list must be provided and confirmed before travel to ensure safe loading.
✔ If the gear exceeds capacity, additional transfers may be required, subject to vessel availability.
